Guanyin captured in the “skyfull of buddhas and gods” installation on Hong Kong Island, enveloped by the regeneration symbol of lush foliage. Considered the personification of compassion and kindness, a mother goddess and patron of mothers, here she is depicted looking or glancing down, symbolising that Guanyin continues to watch over the world. A beautiful rendering with a sublime expression, rosy cheeks and accompanying infant further stressing the relationship between maternity and birth.
Kwun Yum’s child attendants, Yuk Neoi and Kam Tung, were originally servants of the Jade Emperor
